Fun fact for the day: England is ruled by royalty, the current queen is Queen Elizabeth II, who has been queen since 1952–that’s a long time! But a surprising fact about her is that she wanted to help out during WWII, so she actually joined a women’s military group and trained as a mechanic. Most royals don’t do those kinds of things.

It’s pretty cool that she wanted to help–there was a need, and she went to fill it. It’s something we should think about–do we step up and help out when there’s a need? A lot of times we probably don’t see little needs as important, but do you help pick up something that was dropped at the grocery store by a stranger? Do you automatically help your coach set up or take down equipment, without being asked? Do you pick up trash when you see it, before your mom asks you to do it?

There are a LOT of ways we can step in and fill a need. Look for some today.

Dear brothers, what’s the use of saying that you have faith and are Christians if you aren’t proving it by helping others? Will that kind of faith save anyone?

James 2:14 (NLT)

Dear Lord, Show me how to help people today. Help me learn to be a person of character, who people can depend on to step in and help when needed. Amen.
