Today in History: in the year 306 AD, Constantine was made Emperor of the Roman Empire. This may not seem like an important thing, but Constantine ended up being the emperor who made Christianity legal in the Roman Empire. Before him, it was illegal to be a Christian and Christians were prisoned and killed. Remember, it was the Romans who crucified Jesus…

When you study history, sometimes it’s cool to see God’s plan–the Romans had built these fantastic roads, so once Christianity became legal, the missionaries could travel easier and spread God’s word. God uses the little details. Remember that it doesn’t matter who is king, president, ruler of countries–God is on the throne in Heaven and his plan is happening right now.

World events are under his control. He removes kings and sets others on their thrones. He gives wise men their wisdom and scholars their intelligence.

Daniel 2:21 (TLB)

Dear Lord, thank you for being the king of all, and for controlling world events. Amen.
