Did you know that the world record for the most straws someone could fit into their mouth without holding on with their hands is… 459 straws. I can’t even figure that out–how does that even work?

Sometimes we make people famous for things that really don’t matter. It’s one thing to be famous for saving the world, but to be a record-holder for straws in your mouth? That’s not quite the same.

What is it that makes people want to be famous? If it’s for pride, or money, or to be better than everyone else–those aren’t great reasons. If you seek to do God’s will, make the world a better place and spread God’s love–those are the purpose we should seek.

Stay humble as you go about your work today–whether it’s in school, or on a sports field. Seek God’s will, use your talents to the best of your ability, but don’t worry about being the best.

Seek the Kingdom of God[a] above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

Matthew 6:33 (NLT)

Dear Lord, Teach me how to seek your will. Help me to have a humble spirit, and to not feel like I have to be the best at everything. I love you Lord, Amen.
