Things are heating up in the MLB baseball season these days. If you’re a Dodgers or Yankees fan, they are both over 80 wins already for the season, and the Braves and Astros are coming on strong too. Fun fact about baseball: bet you didn’t know that every baseball they use in games is dirty…equipment managers rub them down with a special mud to make them not as bright and not as slick. Gives them grip for the pitchers, that kind of thing.
The Bible refers to us as dirty, in terms of sin. When God forgives us, he makes us clean–white as snow. Stop and think about that–whatever mistakes you make, after you go to God and admit them, confess–he wipes you clean. Picture a whiteboard in your classroom at school, with all kinds of marks on it. Then it’s wiped clean. Like you. Pretty cool.
Sprinkled with the blood of Christ, our hearts have been made free from a guilty conscience, and our bodies have been washed with pure water. So come near to God with a sincere heart, full of confidence because of our faith in Christ.
Hebrews 10:22 (ERV)
Dear Lord, Forgive me for my mistakes yesterday, and any I’ve made so far today. Help me to remember to come to you when I screw up. Thank you for forgiving me and for making me white as snow. Amen.
