Sometimes when you read the Bible, it doesn’t make much sense… you maybe read the devotion, the verse and later you’re like “umm…okay???”. It’s okay if it doesn’t always make sense–nobody knows everything about God and his word, but we study it and try to honor him by learning.

One thing you can do is ask an adult to explain the devotional. The other thing you can do, is look up the verses in another version of the Bible. There are a lot of different ones–you may notice the letters in ( ) with the verse on this site–it’s telling you which version is used. Here’s an example:
Trust in the Lord with all your heart;
Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT)
do not depend on your own understanding.
6 Seek his will in all you do,
and he will show you which path to take.
Place your trust in the Eternal; rely on Him completely;
Proverbs 3:5-6 (VOICE)
never depend upon your own ideas and inventions.
6 Give Him the credit for everything you accomplish,
and He will smooth out and straighten the road that lies ahead.
Sometimes a different version makes more sense to you. Try a good website like Biblegateway
Dear Lord, Thank you for giving us your word. Forgive me for the times that I read it quickly and can’t make sense of it. Help me to grow in understanding. Amen.
