Can I say Happy Summer!? Officially, summer doesn’t start for another week, but I believe by now most schools are out for summer break. Are we excited? YES!
As you settle into summer mode, let’s think about the good things–sleeping in, eating popsicles as they drip down your arm, watching the stars come out as the sun goes down, pools, beaches, lakes, peaches and strawberries–so many things. Like the perfect cannon ball into the pool.
But watch out… sometimes summer has almost… too much freedom? I know, there isn’t such a thing, right? But when we aren’t at school, sometimes we get into a habit of thinking we can do anything we want, or that we don’t have to do anything we don’t want to. Like clean our room, or turn off the TV, or visit grandma and help her clean the kitchen. And there will be boredom. And you will be crabby and kind of a jerk some days. We’re human, it happens.
Remember this summer to honor God with a good attitude. Have fun, play, be free and creative. But also–pray, think of how you can please God with your attitude towards family, friends–everyone around you.
Don’t let anyone think little of you because you are young. Be their ideal; let them follow the way you teach and live; be a pattern for them in your love, your faith, and your clean thoughts.
1 Timothy 4:12 (TLB)
Dear Lord, Thank you for SUMMER! Help me to enjoy all the wonderful things about summer, but show me how to also keep a positive attitude. Amen.
